Topshop 'Glow' Highlighter..

Highlighters are definitely my favourite thing about the moment. I can't get enough of having lovely, dewy skin that glows in the light. And this definitely does just that. 

I really only tend to use liquid highlighters because i love that i can also mix a little bit in with my foundation.  I've heard such amazing things about Topshops highlighters and trying to decide between this and Sunbeam (powder) was difficult but, i settled for this one and i don't regret it for a second. 

This little jar of loveliness contains a mousse highlighter, a little strange at first but apples so smooth, like a dream. I find if you use your finger it applies much more pigmented whereas using a stippling brush (i use Real Techniques) creates more a soft effect when it is buffed into the skin in little circular motions.

Although this appears quite golden in the pictures in reality it is a white mousse with golden and pink iridescent shimmer running through it. I think it personally gives a lovely glow that will suit any skin colour because its white - once blended the 'whitness' disappears and it just leaves a lovely glow (hence the name!) I like to apply this to area's like my cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupids bow and centre of forehead with my finger (a little goes a long way) then blend with my Real Techniques Stippling Brush and tah dah.

Perfect for brightening up the skin making yourself look naturally 'glowing' - get in! Considering i always look tired and dull this is a god send in my eyes.

Bargain: Technic High Lights!

Morning all! Today i want to share this little gem with you! A bargain, a dupe and an all round great buy. Lately, Technic have been coming out with some amazing dupes - two being Benefit dupes ('That gal' primer and 'High beam' highlighter). I picked up the 'High Beam' dupe from Bodycare for a mere £2. 

As you can see, Technic have really gone to town with this dupe. The bottle looks virtually the exact same as 'High beam' and Technic have played on the name and called theirs 'High lights'. It's such a good dupe inside and out. The brush is also the same as Benefits and applies the product really well.

In terms of colour - 'High Lights' again is pretty much the same! I don't actually own High Beam so i can't say for sure, but looking at swatches online there really isn't any difference atall. 

Technic's highlighter is quite thick and creamy but not so much that it's hard to blend. In fact, it blends really easily but i suggest blending it out straight away. I dot this on the area i want to highlight then blend with my finger or a fluffy brush and repeat that anywhere else i want to highlight. It does a really lovely job of brightening the face and making you look luminous and glowy. I was a little hesitant it might be a bit too light for my skin-tone but it doesn't at all. It just adds an icy, pinky glow to the area's i apply it. It isn't overly shimmery either, so it does look pretty natural. But you could add more for a really luminous glow!! 

Overall you really cannot fault this product. It's a great highlighter (dupe or not) and will save you a few pound if you are a 'High beam' fan. Personally now i have tried this, i don't think i'll ever purchase Benefit's as there is no need. I do prefer more gold toned highlighters but this is a nice change and for £2 it didn't exactly break the bank! I think this is great for all skin-tones (light, dark, oily, dry!) as i am dark-skinned with a really oily t-zone and it looks great and lasts a long time on me so, i have no doubts it'll last even longer on those with normal or dry skin.

No7 'Peach' Skin Illuminator

I have a highlighting product to share with you today. I mentioned in this post that having oily skin makes it really hard to have dewy, glowing looking skin as you can end up looking a bit greasy. But using a liquid highlighter like this one works out pretty well as it adds a shine but lasts on the skin.

I bought the Skin Illuminator from No7 in shade 'Peach' - £11.00 available from Boots. Although, i got mine for £6.00 as i used one of the £5.00 No7 vouchers you sometimes get in Boots! So it works out really affordable and good value for money when using the voucher.

As you can see the product comes with a built in brush at the bottom. You squeeze the top and it comes out through the brush. You can either brush the liquid onto your face or use your fingers to apply it. I prefer to squeeze the product out of the brush using my fingers then, apply to the face as the brush can get a bit yucky and sticky after a few uses. But like the box says, to clean the brushyou just wipe it with a tissue/wipe. 

I went for the shade 'Peach' as it's the more golden shade out of the two available. Obviously, it's up to you whether you get the golden or pink highlighter - both are lovely, just different tones!

On the skin, the highlighter is an ice golden shade which is quite sheer but contains shimmer to give you that glow. The shimmer isn't gritty or in your face but is infused into the liquid to add a subtle glow.

Because it's a liquid highlighter it can be used in different ways: mixed in with foundation/moisturiser to add an allover glow or used like a traditional highlight - applied and blended to the 'high' points of the face (top of cheekbones, bridge of nose, centre of forehead and cupids bow).

As you can tell, i love this product! It's perfect for summer as helps give you that healthy glow we all wish for but it's also perfect to brighten up a rainy day or to add a sexy glowfor a night out - you can definitely get your use out of it! I prefer to mix it with a matte foundation, because i have oily skin dewy foundations don't tend to last very well (i look greasy). So, i add this to a long lasting, matte foundation to give my skin a glow without compromising on longevity.

MAC Crew Highlight Powder.

Hi all! Thought i'd share my only item from the MAC 'Hey Sailor!' collection today. It's took me a while to get this post up just because i was so unsure of what i thought of it. Now i know, and i don't love it but nor do i hate it. It's just an OK product (unfortunately). It's £21.50 available in store/online.

The first thing that attracted me to this product was the design. I'm a sucker for anything that looks nice/cute. You have to admit the pink, coral and purple stripes look so cool amongst the beige shimmer. I swatched it on my hand and it created a lovely sheen that i thought would look great as a highlight.

But sadly, when applied to the face, there is slight sheen but no real evidence that it is a highlighter! It's basically a pink blusher with. Ot-oh MAC, please be more precise about your products. Don't get me wrong, it looks really lovely on the cheeks as a flush of colour i'm just disappointed i have another blusher in my collection and not particularly a highlighter which can give me a healthy glow.

If you have a look at Temptalia's post here where she excavated it, the beige shimmer is just an overlay and it ends up being a blusher. So all is not wasted, it will last for ages as a flush of colour.

I'm going to use this product up, just because i have it now and there's no point wasting it. It does add a some sheen to the cheeks and brightens up my complexion so it's good for those natural makeup days. I do skip highlighter when using this (i like to kid myself that it is infact what it says on the tin)! But, it's not a highlight and if you love a really glowy look then you will need a extra highlight.

as i said, it looks likes a highlighter swatched on my hand but transfers more pink and less shimmery on the face.

This product would be best for dark skintones as it may be light enough to be used as a subtle highlight. But for those like me, with medium skintones or lighter it's simply a pretty pink blusher which gives a natural flush as it isn't completely matte.

What do you think? Should MAC be more precise about their products?

MUA Pearl Eyeshadow - Shade 1.

Welcome, my most used eyeshadow in my collection. It really is.

MUA Pearl Eyshadow in Shade 1 was my first ever MUA purchase before i started blogging :O So i've had this product in my stash for quite a long time. I remember when i first saw the MUA stand - i'd never heard of the brand before - i was just drawn to the £1 eyeshadows. I swatched a few on my hand, they looked highly pigmented so of course i couldn't resist for that price.

Shade 1 is a 'pearl' finish which means it contains shimmer. Shimmer can be quite scary you can end up looking more like a disco ball but, this is not the case here, the shimmer is finely milled through the powdered so it creates a lovely sheen as opposed to leaving glitter on your face! This makes it a great highlighter (which is how i use this eyeshadow daily) in the inner tear-duct of my eyes to create a bright eyed effect, as a browbone highlighter too and a eyelid shade with a darker colour in the crease. This is a lovely shade to add to your collection as it can be used in many ways.

As well as on the eyes i also use it as my face highlighter - my go to - it's the perfect cream/champagne shade with the perfect amount of shimmer to make you 'glow'. It blends so easily into the skin and is small and compact to carry around if you wanted. I apply this with a fluffy brush along my cheekbones, bridge of my nose and cupids bow!

Overall it is such a lovely highlight shade, it's so pigmented and such a multi-tasking product. I know i couldn't travel away without it. I would highly recommend everyone to have one of these in their collection as it will always come in useful!
